While Cebu City is undergoing strict lockdown measures, efforts are being done by authorities to keep to 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal in good shape.

SEA Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal will now be able to cross over from Cebu City to Lapu Lapu City to do her workouts and practice sessions at the Hoops Dome Arena in Humay Huma Road.

Commissioner Ramon Fernandez said the Philippine Sports Commission is now coordinating with local government units and the Philippine National Police to make this happen.

“Nag-ECQ ang Cebu City, mayroon na sana siyang mapapag-praktisan,” said Fernandez.

The PSC commissioner said he has asked Lapu Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan and Region 7 officials of the PNP for their assistance.

Following coordination efforts with PNP Region 7 Director General Albert Ferro, Didal will now be able to cross over from Cebu City to Lapu Lapu City to do her workouts and practice sessions at the Hoops Dome Arena in Humay Huma Road.

“That area is under a General Community Quarantine. She can practice there,” added Fernandez.

Fernandez learned about the plight of the world no. 14 Didal after she claimed the women’s division honors of the Asian Skateboarding Championships 2020 Lockdown 5 Video Competition last week.

During the competition, she outscored 13 other skaters from around the world in ruling the online contest.

Didal, who is seeking qualification to the Tokyo Olympics, topped with a score of 8.5 points, while Japanese rival Yurin Fujji tallied 7.5.

Her fellow Cebuano Motic Panugalinog, who is from Inayawan, claimed the gold in the men’s division, with an overall score of 8.92.
