Comedian, TV host and actor Betong Sumaya is all set to hold his first solo concert entitled Betong’s Amazing Concert: Try Ko Lang Ha? on Nov. 21 at the Music Museum.
In an interview with Manila Standard, Betong expressed his excitement over the show, which will feature a few big stars.
“ I have a lot of guests. Sa dami nila baka ako pa nag yung magmukhang guest pag dating ng sarili kong concert,” the comedian said in jest.
The GMA Artist Center talent is known for his comedic skills and knack for hosting but his fans are yet to witness a different side of Betong as a performer.
Last July, he signed up with GMA Music and his first-ever single under the label is now in the works. He revealed that even before he entered showbiz, he has always been passionate about music, “I’m so thankful and blessed dahil bagong ilalagay ko ito sa aking resume, isa itong pangarap na natupad dahil isa sa mga passion ko talaga ang singing.”
Betong was also part of the successful Kapusong Pinoy Studio 7 Musikalye sa Brooklyn of GMA Pinoy TV together with fellow Kapuso stars Christian Bautista, Julie Anne San Jose, Rayver Cruz, Kyline Alcantara, Golden Cañedo, and Alden Richards.
Currently, Betong is a mainstay of the country’s longest-running gag show Bubble Gang. He also stars in the primetime series The Gift.
As he gears up for a concert, Betong couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed for this chance to showcase what he has to offer in the local music scene, “I thank GMA for the trust, never in my life na inisip ko na magiging recording artist ako, but here I am now. I hope you join me in this journey.”
He is also very thankful for the overwhelming support that he got from so many Kapuso stars whom he shares his “journey” with. Alden Richards did not hesitate one bit and in fact was the first person to announce Betong’s upcoming concert.
And of course, he is most excited to see what his Bubble Gang family led by Michael V., has prepared for him on stage. The guest list is currently growing by the day and we will not be surprised if the concert extends till the wee hours of the morning.
