Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) chair Elpidio Jordan Jr. on Wednesday spearheaded the awarding of accreditation certificates to 25 urban poor organizations for linking their communities to the national government through its line agencies.
PCUP Commissioner for the National Capital Region Rey Galupo, NCR Field Operations Division assistant chief Dennis Protasio, and area coordinators attended the activity.
The PCUP chief cited the importance of having urban poor organizations accredited by the Commission to gain access to much-needed services for the marginalized sectors.
“I can see how excited you are in your new role as lea ders of urban poor organizations. We cannot measure your responsibility to resolve various issues,” he said.
“This is the reason why we are giving you th recognition,” he added.
On the other hand, Galupo vowed to transform the PCUP into an approachable agency, saying this time, the agency will assist the urban poor in seeking help from the national government by facilitating all means available.
“We will not only be sitting inside our air-conditione offices but will be ‘hands-onÂ’ with our jobs, moving and empathizing with the happening on the ground for the equal protection of all stakeholders.”
