Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta sees that law enforcers have gathered very strong pieces of evidence against Carmelino Ibañez, the main suspect in Bulacan massacre.

Her remarks come, following the announcement of Bulacan police that the DNA profiling done on the vaginal swab taken from victim Estrella Carlos matches Ibañez's DNA.

Carlos was the daughter of Auring Dizon and was the mother of three children.

Carlos, Dizon and the kids were all killed in their home in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan on June 27, 2017.

Acosta says, aside from the DNA, the initial statements given by Ibañez to newsmen immediately after his arrest also form a very strong proof of his involvement in the gruesome crime.

The PAO chief explains, the disclosures of Ibañez to news reporters can be used in court since he was not under duress when he provided the information and admitted to the massacre.

“Pati yung media interview after arrest kinabukasan, napakalakas na ebidensya nyan (even the media interview the day following his arrest, that evidence is quite strong),” Rueda notes.

Ibañez is currently under police custody.

The bodies of three ‘persons of interest’ who were linked to the case were previously found dead.

They seemed to have been subjected to summary executions.
