Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella on Tuesday laughed off getting outscooped twice by Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol in announcing two important appointments made by President Rodrigo Duterte.
When pressed by reporters if he could be more “active” in social media and make faster announcements on Palace appointments, Abella said in jest that he should just engage another Cabinet Secretary in a “Facebook war.”
“He tends to get excited, right?” Abella said of Piñol, who is a former journalist.
Piñol on Monday announced the appointments of Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Nestor Espenilla in his Facebook page.
It was only hours after Piñol’s social media post that Abella was able to confirm both appointments.
Piñol earlier chided the Palace communication team for being “weak” in delivering the key messages of the President.
