The City Government of Navotas has extended the deadline of business permit renewal and allowed registered computer shops to defer payment of their business taxes for year 2021.

City Ordinance No. 2020-51 stated that all business taxpayers may settle their business taxes, without surcharge, penalty or interest, until February 28, 2021.

Meanwhile, City Ordinance No. 2020-52 extended the renewal of business permit and payment of business taxes of computer shops, internet cafes, pisonet, and other similar establishments until they are allowed to operate.

All fines and penalties, including surcharge and interest, are also waived for the duration of the extension.

“Businesses are still reeling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many have folded, others have been trying to stay afloat. We hope to give them much-needed reprieve by offering them more time to settle their obligations,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“Keeping businesses alive means helping employees retain their source of income and be able to support their family. We will always strive to give as much assistance as we can to enable our people to thrive amid these challenging times,” he added.

Earlier, Navotas granted tax refund to taxpayers who have paid surcharges, penalties and interests on all local taxes and fees due and assessed from September 14, 2020 until the effectivity of City Ordinance 2020-45.
