Enjoying coffee at home

Daily routines have taken a 180-degree turn since the pandemic started. Being stuck at home has made people do things they don’t normally do.

“I have four kids—four boys. Imagine them homeschooling. That’s crazy,” shared private dining chef and restaurateur Happy Ongpauco Tiu. With her days now busier, with mommy duties on top of her business responsibilities, Ongpauco Tiu makes sure her mornings are boosted with a cup of coffee.

“In the morning, I need my coffee right away just to wake me up,” she said.

The pandemic and ensuing quarantine may be chaotic, but Bea Soriano Dee chooses to look at things from a different perspective.

“I get to really enjoy my day. The pandemic has kind of slowed down our way of living,” said Dee. “I get to enjoy the morning, sit down in a quiet place, and focus on what my day would be like.”

The Sunnies Studio co-founder has also found more time to curl with a cup of coffee and a good book.

Meanwhile, for entrepreneur and father Nico Bolzico, more time at home means more time to enjoy things he love—aside from taking care of his family, it’s making a good cup of coffee.

Nico Bolzico named his Nespresso machine Rebecca.

“Basically, it changed a lot,” he said, adding, “I get a sort of peace,” when inserting coffee capsules into his Nespresso machine—which he named Rebecca—and hearing the sound it creates while looking after his daughter Thylane.

Bolzico, Ongpauco Tiu, and Dee have been enjoying being their own barista at home, made possible with the help of Nespresso.

Hosted by Chico Garcia, Nespresso Philippines recently held its first-ever At Home Virtual Café to launch its “Be Your Own Barista” campaign, which aims to inspire coffee lovers to indulge in café-quality coffee at home.

The company highlights its products that let anyone, even with no background or knowledge on making a cup of coffee, enjoy what they used to enjoy at coffeehouses before the pandemic.

“Nespresso aims to delight our customers by providing premium coffee experiences and a drop of extraordinary everyday, like today,” said Patrick Pesengco, chairman and managing director of Novateur Coffee Concepts, Inc.

During the event, the guests showcased their personalized coffee concoctions made using Nespresso’s coffee capsules and machines.

Bolzico crafted his frothy cappuccino made with Aeroccino 3, Ispirazione Venezia, and New Citiz.

For milk-based coffee lovers, Dee whipped up a macchiato with Ispirazione Arpeggio Firenze and a touch of cinnamon using the Nespresso Lattissima Touch.

For someone who wants to cool down, Garcia’s iced coffee with the intensely delicious limited edition Freddo Intenso and New Citiz is a great option.

For a richer and happier coffee experience, Ongpauco Tiu combined Vanilla Éclair and Caramel Creme Brulee in her Nespresso Pixie, and added sugar, chocolate powder, and whipped cream.

Nespresso has an ongoing sale of its products this August. Until August 20, Nespresso machines available at nespresso.ph, Nespresso boutique at Power Plant Mall, and pop-up stores around the metro are discounted up to 30 percent off.

Customers can also enjoy 0 percent installment up to six months via credit card and get a complimentary Aeroccino 3 with every purchase of 30 Nespresso coffee sleeves during the 3-Day Ultimate Weekend sale on August 28-30. Those who will purchase a Nespresso machine along with coffee sleeves will also get a chance to bring home premium gifts.
