The Department of Public Works and Highway said Thursday it expects the completion of the last two segments of the P15-billion Manila-Cavite Expressway C-5 Link Expressway Project by the third quarter of 2022.
“With the progress we have seen on-site today, we are optimistic that the Cavitex C5 Link Segment will be completed as planned. We really look forward to the completion of this project because aside from helping decongest EDSA, Sales Road and other major thoroughfares, this expressway will help reduce the travel time of our motorists from Cavitex to Makati and Taguig and vice versa by 45 minutes,” Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said in a statement.
Villar, together with representatives from the Cavitex Infrastructure Corp., inspected on Thursday the progress of Cavitex C5 Link Segments 2 and 3A2.”¯
The inspection team went to the site to check on the progress of the ongoing construction of the C5 Link ramp. It is part of Segment 2″•a 1.9-kilometer 2×3 lane portion that will soon connect Cavitex R1 to Sucat, bypassing Sucat Road and Quirino Ave.
They also went to the construction site of Segment 3A2″•a 1.6-km. 2×3 lane portion that will connect Merville to RSG Subdivision in Pasay.
Cavitex C5 Link is a segment of the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project, a joint venture project of CIC and the Philippine Reclamation Authority.
Cavitex C5 Link’s operational segment”•3A1 from Merville to Taguig”•caters to an average of 12,000 motorists daily. Upon completion of the whole 7.7-km. segment, it will benefit around 50,000 motorists, particularly those coming from Taguig, Makati, Las Pinas and Pasay.”¯
“Together with CIC, we continue to double our efforts, all the while looking after the safety of the workers to ensure we complete Segment 3A2 by the first quarter of 2022 and Segment 2 by the third quarter, also of next year,” Villar said.
Aside from strictly adhering to the IATF guidelines on health and safety, CIC continues to provide shuttling services and complete PPEs to employees. It also started its vaccination program to protect personnel in the battle against COVID-19.”¯
CIC is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., which also holds the concessions for the North Luzon Expressway, Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway, NLEX Connector Road and tCebu-Cordova Link Expressway in Cebu.
