Caloocan Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan expressed his gratitude to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of Health (DOH) for the assistance and support the city government received in the ongoing fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In a program Friday at Buena Park, Caloocan, USAID lead by Chargé d’Affaires John C. Law and with USAID Philippines Mission Director Lawrence Hardy II announced the US$3.5 million vaccine technical assistance by the agency for the DOH led by Secretary Francisco Duque III.

For the Caloocan City Government, City Administrator Engr. Oliver Hernandez, the mayor’s representative, said USAID had been a huge help through its ReachHealth Project.

These include 59 hand hygiene stations, support with the COVID-19 data management systems and communication campaigns, and even with the additional health professional volunteers.

“The City Government of Caloocan is very thankful to USAID. Since the onset of the pandemic, USAID has been assisting the city in so many ways. We are looking forward to stronger collaboration and partnership with the USAID and DOH, as we work together to win against this pandemic,” said Hernandez.
