The Taguig City government on Friday presented its own version of blended learning program for school year 2020-2021 with the launching of a system designed in response to the postponement of conducting physical classes.

Dubbed as “Tele-Aral Program,” the project is a carefully crafted curriculum and new learning system in line with the city’s blended learning initiative until a vaccine against COVID-19 becomes available.

“Through easy access to a broad body of knowledge, teachers, teaching personnel, and technology, Taguig City launches the Taguig Tele-aral Program to highlight both quality education and importance of safety for teachers and students amidst the pandemic,” said Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano during the launching held at the Telearal Center in Senator Renato “Compañero” Cayetano (SRCC) Memorial Science and Technology High School.

Under the program, students could call teachers who have undergone training if they have any inquiries regarding modules to ensure that high quality of academic content is being given to all learners in the city.

Cayetano said more than 500 teachers were trained on enforcing health protocols so they could visit and cater to the needs of students in their homes.

He added that the Telearal Center at SRCC is equipped with teachers who have undergone training.

Through a team of module specialists composed of former Regional Director and Superintendents of Department of Education as well as manpower from local and international schools in the city has brought the modular distance learning to the next level by improving the content and raising the standard of their primary instructional materials.

This is to ensure high quality of academic content is being given to all learners before school opens Oct. 5.

Cayetano said 144,000 students in the city have received packages which include uniforms, shoes, books, face masks, flash drives, and even toys, so that they would not spend any money for their school needs
