Chevron Philippines has given assurances it is committed to providing fuel to its customers safely, reliably, and affordably during the 30-day enhanced community quarantine aimed at mitigating the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Subject to limitations of a reduced workforce, our retail stations are generally open for business, especially since the energy industry has been classified as vital and therefore exempt from the enhanced community quarantine. Chevron’s fuel supply capabilities are also holding steady,” Raissa Bautista, Chevron Philippines policy, government and public affairs manager said in response to queries from Manila Standard.
She said the company had teams in place working and adjusting supply chains, terminal operations and customer deliveries “striving to continue to provide a reliable supply of quality fuels to customers in a safe manner.”
Bautista said Chevron, which markets the Caltex brand in the Philippines, was actively responding to the COVID-19 outbreak and continue to closely monitor the operating environment, utilizing the guidance of international and local health authorities.
“The safety and health of our workforce, marketers, retailers, customers, and the communities where we do business are primary concerns. We are taking precautionary measures to reduce risks of exposure, and we have business continuity plans in place to help minimize impacts to operations,” Bautista said.
At the same time, Chevron is doing its part to help the country during this health crisis. The company partnered with one of its bus company customers, JAC Liner, to provide much-needed fuel to support the free bus shuttle services to transport our hospital workers from various points in Metro Manila.
“Together with Chevron Holdings Inc., which is our shared services center, Chevron Philippines is also donating Php500,000 to the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation, Inc., which is the country’s largest public tertiary hospital,” Bautista said.
She said the donation is meant to support the hospital’s much needed requirements for medical supplies and personal protective equipment that our frontline healthcare professionals need for proper patient management.
There are currently around 700 Caltex retail stations nationwide and Chevron has 20 supply facilities in the Philippines, including major terminals and depots.
Its import terminal in San Pascual, Batangas, forms the hub of our transportation and supply operations in the Philippines. Chevron also provides jet fuel for airlines at Ninoy Aquino International Airport and at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
