With six reported cases of coronavirus-19 (COVID-19), Mayor Joy Belmonte is planning to adopt a four-day work week scheme.

In her official Facebook account, Belmonte said “your local government is working at all fronts to maintain regular operations under a four-day work week scheme to ensure regular services are being delivered to our citizens even as we face the threat of this virus.”

“Our city executives and council members are in coordination for the passage of relevant policies that will help mitigate the effects of the virus,” she added.

She said the city government shall also ban mass gatherings, such as sports events, beauty pageants and fiesta celebrations in compliance with the resolution of a government interagency task force to place Metro Manila under community quarantine.

Moreover, the city mayor said they would rent vacant establishments to be used as quarantine facilities.

“We will be renting establishments to try to augment quarantine facilities so people do not have to be crowded inside their houses. They can actually be quarantined in a separate facility with their own rooms,” she said when interviewed over ANC’s Early Edition.

“Quezon City stands wit President Rodrigo Duterte in keeping our citizens safe and secure as we implement immediate city-wide response against COVID-19,” she said.

The city has already recorded six confirmed cases of COVID-19.

“Given this, Quezon City is now under METRO MANILA WIDE QUARANTINE. This includes a travel suspension to and from Metro Manila from March 15 to April 14, 2020 to limit the spread of the virus,” Belmonte said.

She advised the residents to practice social distancing as the city government would continue its citywide disinfection to combat the spread of the disease, including the closure of identified public spaces, such as parks, covered courts, buildings and other facilities.
