Newly elected leaders of the 18 barangays in Navotas took their oath of office before Mayor John Rey Tiangco on Monday, Nov. 20.

In his speech, Mayor Tiangco congratulated the officials while challenging them to leave a legacy within their two-year term.

“Serving others is a privilege. As government officials, we have a great responsibility to help ensure a good life for our fellow Navoteños. Use barangay funds honestly and efficiently, treat your constituents as part of your family, and always seek to expand your knowledge to improve the quality of your service and leadership,” he said.

“We may not be able to solve all the problems or issues we encounter, but we should always strive to create a lasting positive impact on our community,” he added.

The local chief executive also encouraged barangay officials to assist their constituents in becoming aware and availing themselves of the city government’s programs.

Meanwhile, Cong. Toby Tiangco reminded the officials that, as public servants, they should fulfill their promises and lead by example.

“We must uphold the oath we took as public servants. Let us set a good example to our constituents by being the first to follow rules and ordinances,” he said.
