The Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers hope to continue their winning streak, with rookie Shawn Argente taking the lead, when they meet the San Sebastian Stags on Tuesday in the 99th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil-EcoOil Arena.

Argente has provided answers to every situation that the Heavy Bombers have faced in their past five games, and will most likely lead the way when they meet the Stags at 2 p.m.

Agem Miranda goes for Jose Rizal University goes for a layup in this piece of action in the NCAA.

Point guard Ry de la Rosa is still recovering from injury, and Argente provided a team-high 17 points, 15 of them from three-point territory, when they prevailed over the University of Perpetual Help Altas.

“Alam naman natin na malaki ‘yung role ni Ry as a shooter sa flow ng offense namin. Simula pa lang ng pre-season talagang ini-inculcate na kaagad namin sa isip ni Shawn Argente na siya ‘yung papalit dun. So he has really proven himself capable of doing that,” said Gonzales.

Later, the College of St. Benilde Blazers, who have 2-3 slate are set to fight the Altas at 4 p.m.

So far, Agem Miranda has also been doing well for the Heavy Bombers, as he made a season-high 31 points when they lost to the CSB Blazers, 85-93, in overtime last Sept. 29.

Against the Altas, Miranda struggled with five points.

“For today, it’s a character game for us. Especially yung composure ng players ko knowing medyo off night si Agem. Pero what happened, maganda nakita ko was instead na hanapin namin yung puntos ni agem, nagstick kami sa paglaro sa bawat isa,” said coach Louie Gonzalez.
