QUEZON City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday welcomed the P50-million donation from Senator Joel Villanueva to 10 hospitals to benefit not only the city residents but other patients across the country.

“This is the gift of the good senator not only to our residents in Quezon City but also to all Filipinos in the whole Philippines because all of these hospitals are catering to everyone,” she told reporters.

On his 42nd birthday, Villanueva turned over P5 million each to the 10 large hospitals — the East Avenue Medical Center, National Children’s Hospital, Philippine Orthopedic Hospital, Quirino Memorial Medical Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney and
Transplant Institute, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and Quezon City General Hospital.

“This will benefit a large number of Filipinos, including our residents in Quezon City, who are most vulnerable and financially
challenged. We do not only assist the needy but we are giving them hope,” she said.

“We strongly believe that this is a huge step towards strengthening the cornerstone of a strong and resilient Philippines.

Let us all remember that a healthy population is the foundation of a productive society. This is why ensuring the health of our people
should always be on top of our priorities,” she said.

“Of all professions in the world, I believe so much in your profession (health-care),” Villanueva said.
