Seven percent of the country’s workforce are eyeing overseas jobs, according to a survey by the Social Weather Station (SWS).

The SWS report, released on Thursday also showed that two out of ten adult Filipinos or 17 percent prefer to live abroad.

The survey, conducted on Dec. 10 to 14 last year, indicated that 16 percent of the prospective overseas Filipino workers have moist eyes on Canada, followed by Saudi Arabia with 12 percent, the United Arab Emirates with nine percent, Japan with seven percent, Qatar six percent, and curiously the United States with only six percent.

It was also established that seven percent of Filipino households have a family member working in other countries.

The SWS survey likewise showed that 75 percent of the households with members currently working abroad asserted that they “often” receive money from overseas, 17 percent said they “sometimes” receive remittances, five percent claims “seldom”, while three percent sadly admitted that they never received support from their OFW family members.
