Presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo Lacson it will still be best to wait for the actual results of the May 9 elections “instead of speculating,” amid the release of a new pre-election survey.
A Pulse Asia survey released on Monday said Lacson was fifth place among the 10 contenders.
The survey said Lacson got the support of 2 percent of the 2,400
respondents nationwide, while the frontrunner, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. got 56 percent, followed by Vice President Leni Robredo with 23 percent.
Sen. Manny Pacquiao got 7 percent and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso got 4 percent, the survey said.
“Instead of speculating, it is best for me to just wait for the May 9 election results which is not too long a wait after all,” Lacson, in an ABS-CBN News report said.
Analysts earlier said pre-election surveys can be considered “snapshots of the moment” and reflect the people’s sentiments at the time these surveys were conducted.
Lacson meanwhile Filipinos should not be complacent even as coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases at present do not spike at alarming levels compared to previous months unlike in other countries.
Addressing supporters gathered at the Mutual Homes Park in Muntinlupa City, Lacson reiterated his preparedness to lead the Philippines’ transition from a state of pandemic to endemic in terms of dealing with the COVID-19 situation, once he receives his executive mandate in the upcoming May 9 elections.
“While we are prepared to transition from a pandemic to endemic state—meaning, that’s when we start to treat it (COVID-19) just like an ordinary flu—we must not forget that a new variant may enter our borders anytime and cause another surge,” Lacson said.
