The Metro Manila Development Authority has stepped into the case of a female commuter who accused a passenger bus driver who she said dropped her at non-designated zone along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue and that resulted in her injury.

Mary Joy Eata, 39, personally went to the office of MMDA Traffic Discipline chief Roy Taguinod and filed her complaint against Diomedes Llames, bus driver of Original Transport Cooperative.

In her two-page complaint, Eata claimed she got injured after Llames hastily dropped her at the approach of Ortigas flyover along EDSA, a prohibited area to unload passengers, causing her to fall.

The incident happened on April 3 at 4:55 p.m. while on her way to an appointment.

Eata said she suffered a trauma and still experiencing pain in different parts of her body caused by the fall.

Llames, in a meeting with Eata, claimed the passenger jumped out of the bus, lost her balance and fell. However, closed-circuit television footage of the incident showed otherwise.

Llames admitted he saw the victim fell off and did not stop when he saw the victim walked her way. He was driving a unit bound for Fairview in Quezon City with licensed plate number AAQ 6902 when the incident happened.

Llames apologized to the victim. However, Taguinod referred the complaint to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Office for appropriate filing of charges against him.

Taguinod said the MMDA would issue traffic violation tickets against Llames for violation of reckless driving, disregarding traffic sign and yellow lane rule.

He also reminded drivers to observe the traffic rules and regulations along EDSA and be concerned of the safety of their passengers.
