Officials of the Laguna Water District Aquatech Resources Corp. led the inauguration of the cleaning stations, a project that was started two years ago, according to MCME Deputy Director Dr. Rogelio T. Andrada.

“Upon consultation with UPLB [University of the Philippines in Los Baños, LARC expressed their interest in donating the cleaning stations,” Andrada said.

LARC also provided a handwashing facility to the Los Baños National High School to ensure access of students and teachers to a safe water supply and support good hygiene practices and a healthy school environment in general.

Anna Karenina Lim-Puerto, LARC Community Relations and External Affairs Manager, said the two-part event was part of the firm’s activities for this year’s World Water Day celebration.

Lim-Puerto stressed these are part of LARC’s corporate social responsibility program called “Alalay sa Barangay,” which aims to help locals through community outreach activities.

“The cleaning stations give the MCME parks additional amenities that tourists and guests can use, while LBNHS now has access to safe and reliable water service here in Los Baños,” she said

“LARC truly recognizes the importance of access to basic water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, and focuses on the responsible management of water resources,” Lim-Puerto added.
