Los Baños, Laguna—Laguna Aquatech Resource Corp. led the inauguration of the recently completed cleaning station at Makiling Rainforest Park and Makiling Botanic Garden last March 27.
The cleaning stations were donated by Laguna Water LARC to the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems that will benefit the visitors of both parks.
Anna Karenina Lim-Puerto, Community Relation & External Affairs of LARC, said this event was part of the World Water Day Celebration.
“Also, this is the part of LARC’s program to give a wash area cleaning station at UPLB Makiling center for Mountain Ecosystems and one in Los Banos National High Schools as part of (Alalay sa Brgy. Programs) to give a water supply and clean potable water,” she said.
MCME Deputy Director Dr. Rogelio T. Andrada said: “This project was started two years ago with the negotiation with UPLB and LARC on their idea to donate a cleaning stations.
They put three cleaning stations in the botanical garden for the visitors going to the camp site in Makiling for the educational tours. We also feel the nature and wildlife and flowers in the area will be enhanced for this coming summer vacation.
LARC also provided a handwashing Facility to Los Baños National High School to ensure access of students and teachers to a safe water supply, and acceptable hygiene practices, and a health school environment in general.
LARC recognizes the importance of access to basic water, sanitation and hygiene facilities especially in schools where children spent most of their time, during which time they may be exposed to a variety of health concern.
