Hyundai Asia Resources Inc., the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, said Friday sales in November rose 3.5 percent to 3,426 units from  3,309 units year-on-year.

The November figure brought sales in the first 11 months to 32,444 units, just down 4.6 percent on year.

“As economic headwinds begin to slow down, Hyundai is in its best position to take advantage of what is left of 2018. Backed by a strong Hyundai community in the country, we have proven time and again that our products and services remain relevant in the country’s automotive industry,” said Hari president and chief executive Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.

Passenger cars remain the volume driver, accounting for 56.7 percent of the total sales.

But sales fell 20.6 percent to 18,389 units in the 11-month period from 23,167 units on year.

The recent introduction of the new Accent, however, is expected to boost passenger sales in 2019.

“Hyundai is in a strong position to take advantage of the last month of the year and finish 2018 on a high note,” Agudo said.
