Former Philippine Sports Commission chairman Harry Angping has sought permission from the Sandiganbayan’s Sixth Division for a four-day travel to Kuala Lumpur
In his motion, Angping, who is facing graft charges, indicated that he will fly to Malaysia from Oct.11 to 14 for a “business meeting” with a certain Low Beng Chiu, president of Malaysia Softball Associate and SCA Softball Confederation Asia.
Angping said his P60,000 travel bond guarantees his compliance to the conditions of the anti-graft court once his travel motion is approved.
Angping is facing a graft case for allegedly conniving with Philcare Manpower Services president Edmund Montanes for the hiring of 71 janitors and nine gardeners without having secured the “necessary requirements.”
Angping allegedly gave undue advantage to Philcare when he signed an addendum to the contract of service of the firm without public bidding, Ombudsman prosecutors said.
The prosecution said the government was deprived of the opportunity to be provided the most beneficial contract when the PSC paid the 80 personnel P15,324.42 per month from March 2009 to January 2011.
