Tropical depression “Florita” had intensified into a tropical storm on Friday morning.

Packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gustiness of up to 80 km/h, the storm was estimated at 860 kms east of Basco, Batanes.

It was moving slowly at northwest direction at 9 km/h.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said “Florita” will not make landfall and will not even directly affect the country.

“Florita” is forecast to leave the Philippine area of responsibility.
