Laurentes clinch YOG boxing slots

THE Laurente brothers, Criz Russu and Criztian Pitt will see action in the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina later this year.

They earned slots to the YOG after they advanced to the semifinals recently in the Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.

Criz Russu made it after scoring a 4-1 decision over Indian Shagolshem Barun Singh in the light flyweight division.

On the other hand, Pitt won via referee-stopped-contest decision in the first round of his bantamweight encounter with Cambodian Bang Non.

Another Filipino Milenio Anduyan bowed out of contention after he took a 0-5 loss to a more experienced Samandar Kholmudorov of Uzbekistan.

The Philippines is allocated seven slots in boxing in the YOG qualifiers.
