The remains of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who was killed in the earthquake that struck Taiwan last Tuesday are set to be brought back to the Philippines.

Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) Head Lito Banayo says, the family of 28-year-old caregiver Melody Castro has been informed about the tragedy.

They had also been asked who wanted to go to Taiwan to join Philippine officials as they retrieve her body.

Melody did not survive the magnitude 6.4 tremor that rocked Hualien County last Tuesday.

She was reportedly hit by a cabinet as it fell and as the building where she was working in collapsed.

She was taking care of a Japanese patient.

Banayo says, Melody left behind a five-year-old child.

Her husband was paralyzed following an accident.

Her family lives in Abulug, Cagayan.

Melody was the sole breadwinner.

Banayo says, he had asked the MECO Board to provide Melody's kin additional financial help, aside from the assistance they will receive from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
