Typhoon ‘Salome‘ moves west to Quezon, Marinduque

TROPICAL depression “Salome” continued to move west northwestward while approaching Southern Quezon and Marinduque provinces.

As of yesterday 5 p.m., the center of “Salome” was estimated at 65 kilometers southwest of Pili, Camarines Sur packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kms per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90kph.

It was forecast to move west northwest at 25 kph.

Tropical cyclone warning Signal no. 1 was raised over Metro Manila, Rizal, Bataan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, including Ticao and Burias Islands, Romblon, Marinduque, Quezon, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro.

“Salome” is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday morning.

According to weather forecaster Nikos Peñaranda, the country will have a generally fair weather during the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit.
