Passengers riding the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 3 stations will not suffer long lines anymore by year-end.

This is the promise of MRT 3 Director for Operations Deo Manalo to the senators.

During the hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Services, Manalo said, “by end of the year, sigurado pong mawawala na ang pila.”

Manalo explained, at this time, 23 trains are serving 500,000 passengers a day.

But by next year, the more MRT trains will be added and this will enable them to supposedly accommodate up to 700,000 a day.

But Committee Chairperson Grace Poe cautioned Manalo against being overly optimistic.

She noted that the MRT is still plagued with so many problems.

“These are all up in the air and are a wish list because for now, we still have the signaling system to test to make sure there’s no feedback,” she stated.
