The House Committee on Justice will hear on Monday the impeachment complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte.
At 9:30 am on May 15, 2017, the committee will hold an “initial consideration of the verified complaint for the impeachment of President Duterte.”
The case was filed by MAGDALO Party-list Representative Gary Alejano.
The committee intends to study the complaint to see if it is sufficient in form and substance.
In his complaint, Alejano had accused Duterte of betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the Constitution and graft and corruption.
He cited as evidence the alleged extra-judicial killings resulting from the Duterte administration’s war against illegal drugs, the President’s stand on the sea dispute with China in the South China Sea and his alleged ill-gotten wealth.
