Until the end of April, Flavors of the Philippines 2017 is showcasing the best Filipino food and drinks and more in hundred venues in the country’s 17 regions.
A component of the third Madrid Fusion Manila, Flavors of the Philippines is a cultural and food festival which offers something for everyone every day in the different provinces and cities during the month-and-a-half long gastronomic road trip. This festival celebrates the evolution, heritage, and diverse offerings of Filipino cuisine.
Activities of enrichment and unlimited fun include learning native cuisines, local food festivals, gourmet fairs, dining with celebrity chefs, specialized menus, roving food trucks, food tastings, bar crawls, cook-off challenges, food bazaars, farmers’ market tours set in captivating destinations with cultural immersion in or interaction with and empowerment of local communities.
In a statement to the media, Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo shared that this year’s Flavors of the Philippines is a longer, grander, and more delicious food journey nationwide which awaits us all. It will go on an all-in-one enriching celebration of Philippine history, arts, culture, tradition, literature and music through the language of food.”
“Flavors of the Philippines aims to present our country to all food lovers in the world as a hub for different flavor profiles even those of foreign origins, while establishing our country as center of culinary excellence in Asia. So join us in touring our palates across our more than 7,107 tropical islands and discover why Filipino food is the next big thing on the global travel stage,” Secretary Teo added.
“The New York Times and Conde Nest Traveler Magazine published that the Philippines is becoming a major food trend in the world. We believe Madrid Fusion Manila with Flavors of the Philippines has been instrumental in promoting Philippine cuisine to more foodies worldwide,” said Director Verna Buensuceso of Market Development Group – Department of Tourism at the simple kickoff ceremony held at the Greenbelt Gardens in Makati City during the Paella Gigante Festival.
Hundreds of venues are participating in Metro Manila and the regions in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
