Makati senior citizens get cash gift today

More than 72, 800 senior citizens of Makati City will receive their mid-year cash gifts beginning today, the city’s information office announced Friday.

For 2016, Makati has allocated P410 million for the cash gift and centenarian incentive under the BLU Card program of the city’s Social Welfare Department.

The yearly cash gift, given in two equal installments every June and December, varies according to specific age groups, as follows: P2,000 for senior citizens aged 60 to 69 years old; P3,000 for those 70 to 79 years old, and P4,000 for those aged 80 and above. Thus, the first age group this June will receive P1,000, the second group, P1,500, and the third group, P2,000.

The simultaneous distribution will start today at the covered court of Barangay West Rembo, the East Rembo Elementary School for Brgy. East Rembo, the Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino High School for Brgy. Comembo, the Rizal Elementary School for Brgy. Rizal, and the Bangkal Elementary School for Brgy. Bangkal.

The distribution scheduled on June 6 will be done at the covered courts of Brgys. Urdaneta, Forbes Park and Carmona, F. Benitez Elementary School for Brgy. Singkamas, and at the barangay halls of Brgys. Pinagkaisahan and Northside.

On June 7, the cash gift will be given at the barangay hall of Brgy. Magallanes, and at the Guadalupe Viejo Elementary School for Brgy. Guadalupe Viejo; while on Wednesday, the distribution will be done at the covered court of Brgy. Dasmariñas, and La Paz Elementary School for Brgy. La Paz. 

On June 9 the event will be held at the San Isidro National High School for Brgy. San Isidro and at the covered court of Brgy. Valenzuela.

The barangay hall of Brgy. Sta. Cruz, covered court of Brgy. San Lorenzo, Pitogo Elementary School will be the venue of the cash gift distribution on June 10.  

On June 11, distribution will be done at Cembo Elementary School for Brgy. Cembo, Pembo Elementary School for Brgy. Pembo, and San Isidro National High School Annex for Brgy. Pio del Pilar.

The covered court of Brgy. South Cembo and barangay hall of Brgy. Southside will be the venue of the cash gift distribution on June 16. The following day, the event will be at the residence of Baby Sarrol for Brgy. Kasilawan.

On June 18, the distribution will take place at Maximo Estrella Elementary School for Brgy. Tejeros, and Palanan Elementary School for Brgy. Palanan.

BLU Card holders from Brgy. Guadalupe Nuevo can claim their cash gifts at their covered court on June 20 while for barangays Bel-Air and San Antonio, recipients can get theirs at their respective covered courts on June 21.

On June 22, the venue will be at the covered court of barangay Olympia and at City Hall Building II for barangay Poblacion.

In claiming the cash gift, beneficiaries who are unable to come in person can send their duly authorized representative, whose name appears at the back of the BLU Card, to the cash division at the 3rd floor of the Makati City Hall. The representative should be able to present a medical certificate of the beneficiaries’ condition, whether bedridden, disabled or confined in a hospital.

Authorization forms are available at the Makati Social Welfare and Development office at the fifth floor of the city hall.

On the other hand, senior citizens who are out-of-town or abroad during the distribution of the cash gifts will not be to claim the said benefit, and authorization presented by a representative will not be honored by the cash division.  

To qualify for the cash incentive in the next distribution period, residents must file their application for the BLU Card within five days after their 60th birthday.
