Volkswagen Philippines recently introduced two more variants of its Golf series. Held at the VW showroom at the Bonifacio Global City, the launching was spearheaded by VW  executives JP Orbeta, president and CEO; Klaus Schadewald, Chief Adviser to the President and Franz Decleodt, VW’s savvy marketing who also found his calling that night as an event’s host.

“It was also around this time in 2015 that we introduced to the Philippines the Golf GTI, the everyday super car for performance seekers looking for fun and excitement. And it was warmly received by the local market. This year, Volkswagen Philippines increases the product line-up of the Golf  brand and tonight, you get the first look at the two other variants–the Golf Highline 1.4 TSI DSG and the Golf Comfortline 1.4 TSI DSG,” said  Orbeta.

Now on its 42nd year in the automotive industry, the Golf is one of the world’s most popular automobile due to its precision craftsmanship and that Teutonic automotive engineering and design. The introduction of the Highline and Comfortline variants ushers in an expansion of the nameplate and to further provide the local market with more options to enjoy one of the most iconic hot hatches ever produced by VW.

With a price tag of P1,739,000 for the Golf Highline 1400 TSI DSG, and the Golf Comfortline 1.4 TSI DSG goes for P1,590,000, both cars have these features as standard equipment: Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP), seven airbags, Engine Drag Torque Control (MRS), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) with XDS, and a Regenerative Braking System all come as standard. Powering both lines is a 1.4-liter TSI Turbo 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a Blue Motion Start/Stop system managed by a 7-speed DSG that produces a maximum output of 150 Ps at 5,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm. This system ensures great fuel efficiency without compromising on the power when you need it most.

A testament to German engineering and precision

Exclusive to the Highline are Bi-Xenon headlamps with headlamp washer and LED daytime running lights, dynamic headlight range adjustment with dynamic cornering lights, and an auto headlight activation with separate daytime running lights

The interior of the Highline variant is highlighted by the “Vienna” leather seats and a Climatronic 2-zone air-conditioning system with rear A/C vent. Both models are available in the following exterior colors: Pure White, Sunset Red Metallic, Limestone Grey and Deep Black Pearl. Pacific Blue is exclusively available for the Golf Comfortline.

“After 42 years, and 7 generations, the Golf family has grown in the Philippines. Both the younger set of Filipino car buyers, as well as the older ones, will surely take a keen interest in this line-up, because the brand heritage transcends generations. To put it simply, having fun while you’re behind the wheel knows no age. And so we expect the Golf to be among our bestsellers,”  Orbeta stressed.
