Hotel Sogo Gives 1.2 million for Renovation of Missionary Center

Hospitality and property giant Hotel Sogo recently donated Php 1,200,00 to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), a religious organization that helps communities by building schools and institutions since 1939, for the renovation of the OMI Missionary Center located at Mapayapa I Capitol Site, Quezon City.

In a meeting held last August 20, 2018 at the OMI Missionary Center, Mr. Edmundo Las, member of Hotel Sogo’s Board of Directors and a devout Catholic himself, formally turned over the check to Rev. Fr. Phil Estrella and witnessed by Engr. Eugenio P. Barcelo. The donation was made in behalf of Sogo Cares, the company‘s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, in order to provide financial assistance for the repair and improvement of the organization’s retreat house. According to Fr. Estrella, the donation will surely help the religious group in its mission and ministry of evangelization of the laity.

The OMI Missionary Center also serves as a facility for community building by providing a venue for activities that promote personality development, self-esteem, prayer meetings, and bible studies. The renovation project, which includes re-tiling of restrooms, repainting of rooms, installing of water heaters, purchasing of new mattresses and curtains, and the repairing of tables and chairs, is expected to be complete by October 2018.
