NATIONAL standouts Patrick Unso and Janry Ubas showed they are ready for the 2017 SEA Games

Unso broke his own Philippine record in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.91 seconds in the ongoing Thailand Open Athletics meet.

He eclipsed the previous record of 14.12 seconds that he himself set during the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.

This made Unso the first and only Filipino who has done a sub-14 second performance in the 110m hurdles.

His good showing came after the 24-year-old underwent  a delicate spine surgery last year.

On the other hand, Ubas kept his hold at the top of the Southeast Asian  ranking for long jump.

He had a leap of 7.78m,  which was a centimeter short of 7.88 meter performance last June 3.

American consultant coach Rohsaan Griffin said he is upbeat about the national squad’s chances at the SEA Games.

“You haven’t seen the best yet. Janry could possibly hit eight meters anytime soon and we’re not yet talking about the SEA Games,” said Griffin.

Griffin believes that members of the team “have never been this strong. And they are getting stronger.”
