LETRAN continued its Cinderella story as it claimed its fourth win in a row at the expense of Jose Rizal University, 25-16, 25-19, 25-19, on Friday and a place on top alongside powerhouse College of St. Benilde in NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

Power-hitting duo Marie Judiel Nitura and Gia Maquilang were the Lady Knight’s battering rams, who unleashed 16 and 15 points, respectively, as they stayed unscathed and unflappable in four starts.

But Letran coach Oliver Almadro knew games would get tougher.

“I’m really happy nandito kami ngayon, but the job is not yet done and the NCAA is still far from over,” said Almadro. “I guess naka-buwelo lang ng konti but we have to continue working hard and we need to seek to improve.”

It was also a win that gave them confidence entering a much-anticipated showdown with equally unbeaten and three-peat-seeking CSB, which is on a 33-win juggernaut dating back four years ago.

“We have to taper our expectations dahil palakas ng palakas kalaban, ditto kami mate-test,” he said.

The Lady Bombers slumbered to 1-3.

In the other game, Arellano U downed San Beda, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18, to improve to 2-2.

The Red Spikers limped to 1-3.
