Lito Adiwang confident of explosive win vs. Williams

Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang doesn’t expect his next match to last long when he looks to continue his winning ways in ONE Championship.

Adiwang is gearing up for war against the always-game Danial “Mini T” Williams in a strawweight MMA bout at ONE Fight Night 19: Haggerty vs. Lobo inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on 17 February.

The chances of this fight reaching the judges’ scorecards are close to zero considering that Adiwang has taken home finishes in 12 of his 15 wins, while five of Williams’ six victories in MMA have also ended before the final bell.

With a shared 81 percent finishing rate between the two of them, the only way this goes to the canvas—according to Adiwang—is if one of them gets desperate in the striking exchanges.

“Both of us are strikers, so we’ll see who gives in and turns into a wrestler because he can’t take the damage on the feet,” he said.

“Definitely excited for this bout. I’m visualizing this bout to be electrifying and entertaining. This is going to be a beautiful, explosive striking battle.”

If it comes down to that, Adiwang welcomes it.

Though primarily a striker, “Thunder Kid” isn’t worried about the fight spilling over to the ground, noting how he’s a more well-rounded fighter than the Thai-Aussie striker.

For Adiwang, the key will be to stay in control of his emotions wherever the fight goes.

“Since this is an MMA bout, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a takedown here. All I have to do is stay in control wherever the fight goes,” he said.

“He’s dangerous. He’s not someone you should look over. I just need to overcome that, be confident. I need to believe that I’m better. Once I doubt myself, even though I’m better, that won’t show out in the fight. That’s our focus – game plan and confidence in the ring.”

With that in mind, anything that comes short of a win would be an utter disappointment for “Thunder Kid.”

“I visualize a win of course. If Danial trades with me, I think he’s getting finished. That’s my target. That’s what I visualize. I want to finish this guy,” Adiwang said.
