LITO “Thunder Kid” Adiwang takes on Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado in their much awaited rematch at ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand this November 4.
It’s a fight that is 20 months in the making, a rare all-Filipino bout with both hungry to prove their worth in the strawweight division.
For Thunder Kid, this one’s personal.
“I really wanted this rematch. When we first met, honestly, I wasn’t that excited because I knew I was facing a fellow Filipino and he wasn’t in the top five, so there really wasn’t any fire at all. But I’m now truly excited,” he said.
It was in their last tussle at the historic ONE X card in March 2022 when Adiwang suffered a devastating ACL tear.
Adding insult to injury was how he saw Miado’s corner celebrated at the conclusion of the match. That certainly left a bad taste in Thunder Kid’s mouth that he’s determined to show that he’s really the superior fighter between them.
“I’m on fire for this rematch and it’s because of him and his cornermen,” he stated. “Honestly, I was hurt with the way they celebrated when I got injured. He wasn’t even winning that fight and they were celebrating like that.”
Now representing HIIT Studio, Adiwang immediately showed that there was no ring rust after his injury, knocking out Adrian “Papua Badboy” Mattheis in just 23 seconds in his highly anticipated comeback fight at ONE Friday Fights 34.
And what better way to continue his road to redemption than earning one against Miado.
“In this rematch, I’m coming with my A game. I’m not going to hold back. Let’s finish this, and may the best man win,” he said.
For his part, Miado has also been active as he scored a huge third round technical knockout victory over strawweight kickboxing contender Danial “Mini T” Williams at ONE Fight Night 3: Lineker vs Andrade before submitting to Mansur Malachiev at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs Menshikov last June.
The Marrok Force standout is determined to bounce back after that defeat which makes this match all the more exciting as they both look to settle the score once and for all.
