2 PH titles at stake in ‘Bakbakan sa Montalban’

Boxing returns to Rodriguez, Rizal with two titles at stake as the town celebrates its 152nd anniversary next month.

Jestin Tesoro and Romel Oliveros

Dubbed as “Bakbakan sa Montalban”, the stacked fight card will feature Bacolod City native Romel “Smooth Operator” Oliveros as he takes on Jestine “Golden Punch” Tesoro for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation featherweight crown in 10 rounds on April 29, 2023 at the Montalban Sports Center in Barangay San Jose in Rodriguez, Rizal.

Oliveros, fighting for Elorde Stable in Paranaque City, is expected to have his hand full against Tesoro who is representing Hardstone Boxing Stable of Bangar, La Union.

In the co-main event, another Elorde standout Ricardo “Smiley” Sueno from Negros Occidental will battle Reymark “Lucky Boy” Alicaba of Digos City in another 10-rounder for the vacant PBF flyweight title.

Organized by Quezon City-based CCAB Management Consultancy and Event Production of CPA Bong Corpuz, in coordination with Rodriguez Sports Development, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Offices, Batang Relok Organization Inc., and the local boxing promoter Legal na Kamao and sanctioned by the Games Amusement Board, the boxing promotion is part of the week-long celebration of the founding anniversary of the municipality.

It will be the first professional boxing event ever set at the football and track oval of the Montalban Sports Center.
