GMA Artist Center (GMAAC) talents join forces to extend support to Filipino families whose livelihoods were greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic through ‘Project RICE Up.’

Project RICE Up, a fund-raising drive by various GMAAC stars together with GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), aims to help our countrymen who lost their sources of income due to the implementation of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon and lockdowns in other parts of the country.

As of April 8, GMAAC has already raised funds for 225 sacks of rice that will be distributed to families in need by GMAKF.

Some of the artists who took part in the initiative are Heart Evangelista, Klea Pineda, comedians Betong Samaya, and Chariz Solomon.

“During this situation we are in, we are also facing another rising issue and that is hunger. This is why I’m reaching out to all of you, mga Kapuso, to support the Project RICE Up. Marami tayong matutulungan and all our help will really go a long way,” said Heart.

Betong highlighted the importance of bayanihan during these times, “We are facing a different kind of crisis. Kaya ako po ay nanawagan sa lahat ng alliance nating mga Kapuso. Magsama-sama po tayong suportahan ang The Project Rice Up.”

Chariz related, “Nasa ating mga nanay yung duty ng pag-dedecide kung anong next that’s why I can’t imagine what goes through their heads when they having nothing to cook for the next meals. We participated in this project so that, in our own little way, we can prevent that from happening.”
