Reese Witherspoon to produce ‘Legally Blonde’ spinoff series

Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon is bringing “Legally Blonde” back to life—but this time for television.

Through her production company, Hello Sunshine, the iconic blonde will be joined by some familiar names behind the scenes. 

In a report released by E! News on Friday, April 8, Reese is teaming up with “Gossip Girl” creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are reportedly writing the pilot episode. 

While more details about the spinoff are still under wraps, other big names are attached to the project. Fake Empire and Amazon MGM Studios are also reportedly involved.

The original “Legally Blonde” movie follows the story of a sorority girl turned Harvard Law prodigy, whixh hit the theaters in 2001.

Its sequel, “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde”, followed in 2003. Both films were box office successes, with the first grossing over $141 million globally.

This isn’t the first time Reese’s character, Elle Woods, has considered a comeback. A third movie was announced in 2018, with Mindy Kaling tackling the script. However, Mindy emphasized the pressure of not wanting to disappoint fans.
