Viva unleashes last quarter blockbusters

After setting the duo of fearless director/writer Daryl Yap and daring young actress Kim Molina free on unsuspecting movie-goers in the surprise box-office winnerJowable, Viva Films now announces an astounding line-up of new releases for the last quarter of 2019.

Screening in theaters nationwide is Unforgettable starring pop superstar Sarah Geronimo and directed by Jun Robles Lana and Percy Intalan

In her most demanding role to date, Sarah plays a woman afflicted with Asperger’s Syndrome who takes it upon herself to go on a trip to be with her ailing grandmother. She makes the long, difficult journey accompanied by an adorable stray dog she calls Happy.  Along the way, she finds love, makes friends and experiences smiles, laughter and tears. An Idea First Company Production for Viva Films, Unforgettable also stars Kim Molina and Gina Pareño.

Up next is Nuuk, (A Sub-Zero Love Affair), which screen today. The romantic thriller stars Aga Muhlach and Alice Dixson and directed by Veronica Velasco.

The title comes from the picturesque, freezing city that is the capital of Greenland where the picture was shot in its entirety.  Nuuk is a place where the torturous weather and extreme silence wreck torment on the minds and bodies of the inhabitants. This is where two individuals meet, find romance and unfold a devastating mystery.

 Cinta Itu Buta (Love is Blind), the Bahasa language remake of the runaway box-office winner Kita Kita, opens in theaters on Nov. 13. The original was produced by Spring Films, written and directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo and starred Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez.  

The new version directed by Rachmania Arunita tells the same story of the blind girl Diah and of her caring neighbor Nik. The leads are played by Indonesia’s top actors, the lovely Shandy Aulia and the popular comedian Dodit Mulyanto

Viva Communications, Inc., partnered with Marsio Juwono and MM2, Reflection Pictures and Ideosource Entertainment of Indonesia produced the picture.  This is the first time that a local film has been picked up for production by a foreign producer and director. 

Adan, which tackles the effects of a sexually-charged romance between two women opens on Nov. 20. Written and produced by the award-winning Yam LaranasAdanstars the gorgeous duo of Rhen Escano and Cindy Miranda. They tell the story of how a farmer’s daughter escapes her impoverished existence in the rice fields to find a new exciting life with her best friend Marian. Adan is directed by Roman Perez, Jr..

Mañanita, produced by TEN17P Films for Viva opens in theaters on Dec. 4. Written by the internationally acclaimed Lav Diaz, the movie is directed by Paul Soriano and stars Bela Padilla as a former military officer on the path of revenge against the killers of her parents. 

Mañanita is the lone Philippine entry in competition to the Tokyo International Film Festival 2019 where it premiered on Oct. 29.

Capping 2019 for Viva Films is the local remake of the heartwarming Korean blockbuster Miracle in Cell No.7 starring Aga Muhlach in another extraordinary portrayal. It is also Viva’s official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival.
