Curses are broken and secrets are out, will another stroke of luck favor the Dragon Lady until her very last fight?

‘Dragon Lady’ airs finale this Saturday
‘Dragon Lady’ lead cast Tom Rodriguez and Janine Gutierrez

Top-rating GMA Afternoon Prime series Dragon Lady is set to conclude its run on Saturday, July 20, after months of suspenseful antics and riveting rivalry between families of Filipino-Chinese descent.

Dragon Lady delved on the captivating tale of a young lady born with dragon-like features. Her physical traits and mystical power unleash the independent and fierce lady boss in her.

Bannering the show and their first team-up in a series, sought-after Kapuso stars Janine Gutierrez and Tom Rodriguez shared their unforgettable experiences on set and what they will miss the most while filming the drama series.

Janine, who portrays the role of Celestina/Scarlet, said she is mostly grateful for the memories that she and her co-stars shared during taping, “Thankful and happy. Masaya talaga ‘yungbonding namin dito sa set. Mostly girls kasi kami so puro chikahan and kainan. Kahit na mabigat ‘yung story line, ‘yung mga linyahan namin nakakatuwa. Very campy ‘yung show, kung saan-saan kami nagsasabunutan, sa freezer and supermarket. Kahit na ang intense ng mga eksena, enjoy kami kapag ginagawa namin kaya sa tingin ko marami rin ang nag-eenjoy na panoorin ‘yung mga sabunutan and one liner.”

Tom, who breathes life into the character of Michael, expressed his admiration towards his co-stars and their professionalism whenever on set, “I will miss the whole group. Iba rin kasi ‘yung bonding namin kapag nasa set. Umaga pa lang kulitan na agad. But the clamor we’ve received is really because of our group effort. Everyone’s just been doing an amazing job.”

Diana Zubiri, who plays Almira, shared the inseparable bond that blossomed between the cast while working together, “Lahat sila mami-miss ko kasi naging close talaga kami. Siyempre si Janine, ang aking anak-anakan sa show. Tuwing break, sabay-sabay kaming kumakain at nag-uusap. Lahat kami dito positive lang, mababait silang katrabaho.”

Joyce Ching, who has convincingly given justice to her kontrabida role as Astrid, expressed her sentiments over the viewers and netizens who have bombarded her social media accounts with hate comments, “Actually, napaka-refreshing. May mga nababasa akong masasakit na salita and para sa akin ang refreshing noon na puro hate comments. Noong nagko-kontrabida kasi ako before, hindi pa naman uso ang social media. Minsan nahu-hurt pero nakakatuwa na ganoon sila ka-affected sa acting namin.”

Meanwhile, Edgar Allan Guzman, who plays Goldwyn, shared that working with Janine has helped him hone his craft even better, “Mami-miss ko si Janine kasi first time ko siyang nakatrabaho and at the same time, we became close kasi ‘yung mga eksena namin usually emotional. Tuwing may scenes kami together, bigayan talaga kami. Masarap siyang katrabaho.”

How else can Celestina prove her worth as the rightful heiress to the Chua clan? Will the elusive good fortune finally fall into the hands of the Dragon Lady this time around?

Under the helm of esteemed director Paul Sta. Ana, don’t miss the finale of Dragon Lady on Saturday after Eat Bulaga on GMA Afternoon Prime.
