Woman of the hour Sarah Geronimo, who married longtime boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli in a Christian ceremony last week Thursday, has another big reason to celebrate.
Four years since the original debut of “Tala” music video on YouTube, the dance tune has breached the 100 million mark in terms of views. The song was written by Nica del Rosario and Emmanuel Sambayan and was originally released in January 2016, and at the time was already a big hit.
Before 2019 ended, the four-minute video had around 30 million views. In early January this year, Billboard announced “Tala” as a debuting track in the World Digital Song Sales chart, for the week of Jan. 18. The Sarah Geronimo single entered on the 12th spot, ranking among tracks from the likes of Red Velvet, BTS, and Blackpink.
The World Digital Song Sales chart is said to rank best-selling international singles in the United States.
The dance tune had a resurgence with Sarah crediting drag performances and her LGBT fans for its enduring popularity. “Tala” became a ubiquitous craze in the latter part of the year as viral videos of dance covers dominated social media.
