Apl.de.Ap of the hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas and Sandara Park, formerly of the disbanded K-pop girl group 2NE1, recently released a teaser for their upcoming single, “2 Proud.”
Through a teaser posted on his official Instagram and YouTube accounts, Apl.de.Ap showcased snippets from the song’s upcoming music video, directed by Ben Mor, which is slated for release on March 8th. In the teaser, the two music icons can be seen playing a game of croquet while wearing summer clothes in a mansion.
Many fans have expressed excitement over the unexpected collaboration, with some calling it long overdue.
The upcoming song and music video mark the first musical collaboration between the two since Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am‘s song “Gettin’ Dumb” in 2013, where Apl.de.Ap and 2NE1 were featured artists.
Sandara rose to fame in the Philippines after placing second in the talent show Star Circle Quest. She went on to star in various films and television series, as well as release her EP “Sandara,” featuring seven songs. While already well-known in the Philippines, Sandara eventually made her debut in South Korea as a member of YG Entertainment’s 2NE1 in 2009.
In 2021, after signing with Abyss Company, Sandara released her first album in South Korea, a self-titled EP featuring the songs “FESTIVAL,” “PLAY!,” “DARA DARA,” “T MAP,” and “HAPPY ENDING.”
The Black Eyed Peas, on the other hand, is known for its hit songs such as “Where is the Love?,” “I Gotta Feeling,” and “Imma Be.” Throughout his career, Apl.de.Ap has showcased his prowess in songwriting as one of the group’s main songwriters.
Following the departure of Kim Hill and Fergie in 2000 and 2017, respectively, the group is now currently composed of Will.i.am, Apl.de.Ap, Taboo, and J.Rey Soul.
