Global pop sensation Taylor Swift has announced the upcoming release of her 11th studio album during her acceptance speech at the 66th Grammy Awards.

“I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you in the last two years,” the singer-songwriter said as she accepted the Best Pop Vocal Album Award for ‘Midnights’, which marked her 13th Grammy win.

Swift announced that her newest album, titled  ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ will be released on April 19. In an Instagram post, Swift shared the album cover.

Swift has been known to leave hints or ‘easter eggs’ to her fans all around social media about upcoming album releases. Many fans have speculated that the singer was hinting at the re-release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” following Swift’s use of black, green, and snake imagery, which was the motif of her sixth studio album, in some of her public appearances.

Her release of a new studio album instead of an anticipated album re-recording was reminiscent of when she first released her Grammy-winning album, ‘Midnights’ in October 2022, after fans speculated that she would either be releasing ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version).’ The two re-recordings were eventually released on July 7, 2023 and Oct. 27, 2023, respectively.

Apart from winning the Best Pop Vocal Album Award, Swift also bagged the Album of the Year Award. This was her fourth win of the prestigious award, setting the record as the artist with the most number of wins in the category.

The award-winning singer has also been nominated for four other categories in this year’s Grammy Awards which are Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (with Best New Artist Nominee Ice Spice), Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.
