Covidyantes spread happy virusThey say Filipinos are among the happiest people in the world which is why even on lockdown, we still see this situation with a “silver lining.” Case in point, funny Tiktok videos are spreading like wildfire giving birth to online goofballs Aling Nena and Miss Everything.

While there are not many reasons to laugh at the moment, people still need to keep their sanity and laugh once in a while. After all, laughter is the best medicine.

PINOY COVIDIANS. Ace comedians (clockwise) Herbert Bautista, Ogie Alcasid, Vhong Navarro, Bayani Agbayani, AiAi delas Alas, and Janno Gibbs have banded online to spread laughter and awareness.

Some comedy skits online may not be for you but most definitely there are a few material out there that you might feel the need to send to a friend or family member who needs some cheering up. This idea inspired Covidyantes, a group of amateur and seasoned comedians from Kapamilya’s Banana Sundae and Kapuso’s Bubble Gang. They banded online not just to tickle our funny bones but to extend help and raise funds for our frontliners at the same time.

“We are Filipino comedians whose aim is to spread joy, awareness, and support during this time of COVID-19 pandemic,” says in the bio of the group’s Instagram and Facebook page.

Led by Ogie Acasid, Herbert Bautista, Janna Gibbs, Padilla brothers Dennis and Gene, the group hopes to contribute most of all by spreading positive vibes through laughter. Members include Joey Marquez, Michael V, Kim Molina, Randy Santiago, Paolo Contis, Giselle Sanchez, Gelli de Belen, Candy Pangilina, Ryan Bang, and Candy Pangilinan.

Everybody in the group has a task to accomplish. Jerald Napoles, for instance, manages the group’s official social media portals, while AiAi delas Alas bakes bread for the frontliners and people who are badly affected by the enhanced community quarantine.

In one of their first efforts, member Vhong Navarro suggested a challenge, a pass-the-video- clip of the members giving inspirational messages to our frontliners with the hashtag #PunchlinersForFrontliners.
