It’s been six years since Maine Mendoza entered show business but she admits that until now, she still experiences stage fright whenever she does hosting stints.

“I still feel nervous when I come up on the stage. I can’t explain why,” Maine shares during a recent interview for her new show on TV5.

People see her doing Eat Bulaga on a daily basis and many witness her energy as one of the main hosts.

“Actually, deep inside, it’s like I’m always a first-timer whenever I face the cameras. You might think that over the years, I got used to it already but nope, the nervousness is always present. Every day, as I step on the stage, the feeling is always there,” she said.

Maine feels like a newbie explaining that it’s like she still doesn’t know to host whenever the camera starts rolling and that’s the point where nervousness kicks in.

“It doesn’t go away. Until now, it’s a problem for me. I just don’t know how to handle stage fright. Actually, I just don’t know how I am able to overcome things. Fortunately, I’m getting by,” Maine stated.

The Phenomenal Star is grateful to the triumvirate of Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Paolo Ballesteros, her fellow hosts in Eat Bulaga for their confidence in her. They serve as her mentor guiding her to be better at work.

“I get the energy from my co-hosts. I feel comfortable with them. Then, you don’t notice it, things go on well. I don’t have a choice. I need to do my job. I have to exert my effort and be able to perform well…in the best way as possible,” she said.

“Of course, you don’t want to be embarrassed on screen if you’ll commit a mistake or blunder. So, you just need to calm yourself. When the moment comes, you have to give a hundred percent of yourself. When you need to face the audience, you deliver what is expected of you. That’s what’s imperative: to survive the day,” she added.

Adding to her resume as a host is her participation in new TV5 talent reality show called PoPinoy.

“I’m grateful that I was given the chance to host this program whose main objective is to discover the next important boyband and girl band. I’m with Paolo (Ballesteros) here. Our grand launch is on June 13. Joining us as head hunters are: Maja Salvador, JayR, Kayla Rivera, and DJ Loonyo. It’s a promising show and I hope viewers will support it,” ended Maine.

Asked about the report that she’s being considered by Willie Revillame to be part of the sitcom he will produce and star in together with John Lloyd Cruz over at GMA-7, the sultry actress says:

“Honestly, I have no idea about such thing since I’m busy with the lock-in taping of our upcoming soap ‘Legal Wives’ along with Dennis Trillo, Bianca Umali, and Alice Dixson. I still don’t have a word from GMA Artist Center regarding the project.

“I only knew about it just recently. My manager hasn’t told me anything concrete about it yet. But I’m happy and grateful to Kuya Willie for considering me for this project.”

If this will push through, how would she feel that she’ll get to share the frame with Lloydie?

“Of course, it would be a great honor. Everyone knows that he’s a brilliant actor. Besides, I'm one of his huge fans. I’m pretty sure that it will be an enjoyable work experience for me,” Andrea states.
