Reigning Mrs. ECO International 2019 Shiela Teodoro-DeForest joined in the celebration of the 110th Baguio Charter Day during her thanksgiving visit to the City of Pines.
The statuesque remove, 45-year-old DeForest, who won her international title in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA in June, was awarded Best ECO video presentation in the pageant which featured different locations of Baguio City and Benguet focusing on the environmental issues affecting communities in the Northern Highlands.
DeForest, a former flight stewardess and public affairs staff at the British Embassy in Manila, graduated with a degree in BS Tourism at University of the Philippines-Asian Institute of Tourism. Married to an American pilot, the Pagsanjan, Laguna native, now residing in Colorado, USA, worked as commercial model with Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, Denver, USA.
DeForest has been busy attending to her duties and advocacy as Mrs. ECO International, in the USA and Baguio. She had paid a courtesy call with the newly elected Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and participated in the Siapno Creek clean-up drive and tree-planting activity in Baguio City.
Together with her two sister queens, who are also advocates for the environment in the other divisions of the pageant, Ms. and Teen ECO International, they provide and represent a platform for women to have a larger voice and share their passion for the protection of the environment. With the help of the media, DeForest hopes that Baguio and Benguet residents will strengthen their awareness and to be more concerned of their environment and natural resources.
“You don’t need a crown to serve,” DeForest would always emphasize as an environment spokesperson. DeForest’s platform focuses on reduction of plastic wastes and non-use and proper disposal of single-use plastics. She’s been a spokesperson on proper waste segregation and proper garbage disposal.
The Mrs. ECO International organization aims to provide a platform that allows women around the world to have a larger voice to share their passion and goals to protect and educate others on global environmental issues.

Mutya Pilipinas Queens meet-and-greet
The Mutya Pilipinas Organization, headed by Cory Quirino, presented to the members of the press its newly crowned 2019 gorgeous queens at a special lunch, meet-and-greet event held at Hai Shin Lou Restaurant, in Makati recently.
The Mutya Pilipinas 2019 queens were led by Mutya Pilipinas – Asia Pacific International Klyza Castro and Mutya Pilipinas Tourism International Tyra Rae Goldman, together with Mutya Pilipinas World Top Model April May Short and Mutya Pilipinas 1st and 2nd runners up Cyrille Payumo and Maxinne Nicole Rangel, respectively.
Mutya Pilipinas 2019 Overseas Communities Janica Louise Arroyo An begged off as she has returned in Los Angeles, California to continue pursuing her studies in Civil Engineering at the California State University.
Castro, a 19-year-old Davaoeña, has started rigorous training in preparation for the Miss Asia Pacific International Pageant to be held at Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila on Oct. 9. Castro will try to make it back-to-back after Sharifa Areef Mohammad Omar Akeel won last year.
The 18-year-old Goldman, who hails from Nevada, USA, is also undergoing training for the Miss Tourism International 2019 pageant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Nov. 8.
Short, a 24-year-old accountant and model from Zamboanga City will represent the Philippines at the World Top Model International in Monte Carlo, Principality of Monaco on Dec. 14.
