Rogelio Castillano and Michelle Papin are not pressing charges. They are the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) employees who were hurt and bruised when accidentally hit by the car that Migo was driving.
Thus, I cannot help but wonder, are there lessons and truths that we can decipher, most especially for the millennials, with regard to this somewhat wake up call for the young and the reckless with Migo as the perfect example?
His legal team will definitely address the case filed by the Makati police, “reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to properties and disobedience to a person in authority.”
How will this case affect the life and career of this man of 19 summers who stars in Sahaya and the forthcoming movie Black Lipstick? The truth of it all will manifest at its most opportune moment.
First lesson, “If you drink, don’t drive.” Self-explanatory, no need to expound on this one. The only worrisome aspect about this, a nagging question: Was Migo intoxicated as early as six in the evening that is why this unfortunate event transpired?
First truth, because of this incident, bad as it is, Migo is the young stud of the moment, an instant sensation. If being GMA 7’s last StarStruck male grand victor did not make him a “star,” overnight, he has become the millennial bad boy.
Why is he being labelled as such? Let me enumerate the ways – accidentally bumped off people, allegedly tried to run away from the scene, chased by the authorities, and when captured, per police reports, cursed and shouted at the ones who apprehended. Adding more “badness,” how true are the reports that the driver’s license he carries is “fake?”
I know that this unexpected turn in his young life, for some unknown and twisted reason, made him more desirable and hotter.
Some of us love it when men behave badly. The bonus here is Migo’s good looks and nubile figure. His photos in hand cuffs and mug shots were paraded in newspapers and the internet. A fresh faced hottie in trouble does not only bring the maternal side of women and gay men, it also stir longings from the loins of a handful, or even more,
In a snap, Migo has become the juvenile many women and gay men want to care and covet. He is no longer the bland manufactured matinee idol. He has a man with so much testosterone that drives him to be fearless.
Second lesson, if you accidentally hit someone while you were driving, this is a no brainer, you must help and bring to the nearest hospital the person or persons you afflicted.
Second truth, is “youth indeed wasted on the young” rings true again because there is a claim that he under the influence of alcohol while driving?
Third lesson, if you know that you committed an offense or misconduct, learn to eat humble pie. Most of all, pull yourself together and request for two things, a phone call and a lawyer. It is pointless to argue with the authority because whatever you say or do, might incriminate you further.
Third truth, Migo is “young and is supposed to do stupid things.” However, even if you are a man whose manhood is still budding, one must face the consequence of your being inexperienced in life.
What happens now to the electric youth that is Migo Adecer? Will we no longer see him in Sahaya? His being a contract star of GMA Artist Center, will there be repercussions on his part as a talent? How will he deal with the judgement, most especially the bullying and hating? Will his star truly rise to stellar and relevant proportion?
Migo’s altercation with the authorities is a cautionary tale for the young. It has become sensational because Migo is a star and part of the entertainment industry. It is hoped that this relatively young man earns and learns wisdom from all of these.
