Charlie Puth drops emotional new single

Singer-songwriter Charlie Puth has announced the upcoming release of his newest single “Hero,” a track that he had been teasing for the past few weeks on his social media pages.

In a post showing the single’s artwork, which was a photo of himself sitting on a green garden chair beside a bush of roses, Puth penned a letter that recounted what his upcoming song was all about.

“My new song HERO is about when you see someone you love hurting themselves, ruining the things in their life that are good, but you just can’t save them. It’s one of the hardest songs I’ve ever had to write, but I wrote it in the hopes that you’ve gone through something similar in your life, and that it can fill in the BLANK for you like it did for me,” said Puth in the post’s caption.

He added that he was excited to release his next studio album as “Hero” represented what it was going to be like. As the singer-songwriter pointed out that he had never written a song like it, he took the time to thank global pop sensation Taylor Swift.

“I want to thank @taylorswift for letting me know musically that I just couldn’t keep this on my hard drive any longer,” said Puth.

Notably, Swift made a reference to Puth in her song “The Tortured Poets Department,” the titular track from her 11th studio album. In the song, Swift said the line “We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist,” which drew a lot of attention from her fans.

“Thank you to all of my fans- you’ll never know how much you mean to me,” Puth said further in his post.

“Hero” is set to be released on all streaming platforms on May 24.
