Statuesque Fil-German Chantal Elise Schmidt, glowing in a black polka dot dress, took center stage during a simple send-off, organized by the Miss Philippines Organization, held at Estancia Mall, Ortigas Center on Monday.
Schmidt, 23, fought back tears as she thanked her fellow queens, friends, and well-wishers for giving her support on her coming competition in the Miss Eco International 2024 pageant, to be held in Cairo, Egypt.
Born to a Filipino mother and German father, the 5-foot-10 Schmidt, started modeling at the age of 16. Now, a talent at Mercator modeling agency, Schmidt received her Bilingual International Baccalaureate Diploma in German and English at Cebu International School and is also pursuing law studies at a German University.
Schmidt was appointed Miss Eco International Philippines 2024 as one of the winners during the inaugural The Miss Philippines 2023 pageant held last year. She first joined the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant where she finished in the Top 10.
The best way to help during this hot season is to understand the reality of the situation, through education, for all of us to be aware, like how to conserve water and energy,” Schmidt said about coping with the scorching heat.
“I’m taking with me their advice to enjoy myself with the girls, and just to be myself and my performance will naturally shine. Watch out for my national costume which will showcase the wonders of my province of Bacolod,” Schmidt enthused.
Present during the sendoff were Miss Supranational Philippines 2024 Alethea Ambrosio, Miss Aura Philippines 2024 Isabelle delos Santos, Mister Pilipinas Man of the Year 2024 Anthony Cunningham, and Miss Universe Philippines executive vice-president Voltaire Tayag.
The Philippines has won the Miss Eco International crown twice with Cynthia Thomalla in 2018 and Kathleen Joy Paton in 2022. Ashley Montenegro finished in the Top 21 in last year’s edition of the Egypt-based pageant.
